Volunteer trail crews retrieved many discarded items from along the trail.

Volunteer crews prune trees, trim brush and clear stumps to construct a path leading from the overlook on down through the banks of segment 2.

Some of the discarded items crews found alongside the trail include: A refrigerator(pictured above), a copy machine, record players, tv sets, a recliner, stereos, and bags and bags of trash.

DEA CFO Bill Amadon bears a smile after shedding his suit, tie and comfy office chair to dawn a pair of workboots, gloves and a pick axe.

Danny O'Neal of the NPS spoons a load of garbage from the 1.5 mile long stretch of the trail known as Perkins Road.

Plenty of hands make for light work.

Above and Below:
Using power wheelbarrows, gravel was hauled and placed to construct about 1/4 mile of trail tread.

It's amazing what you can do in a day. Thanks to the efforts of the volunteers, the schedule for trail tread construction and beautification has been advanced by about two weeks. |
